Archaeopteryx was created by Nicholas DeBruyne and Wevolve Labs for participation in Burning Man 2019 at Black Rock City. The kinetic light sculpture shares its name with the first bird to evolve from dinosaurs. Participants who encountered the sculpture could sit, inhabit, and engage with the work through collaborative interaction, mobilizing its twenty foot wingspan and activating dynamic light projections.
