JIANGMEI WU Ruga Ribbons
2020
Ruga Ribbons is a 14 ft tall permanent sculpture located in the Liberty Fund Library of Indianapolis. The sculpture is inspired by the Latin word "Ruga," which translates to the making of creases, wrinkles, pleats, and folds. The digitally designed sculpture is made of flat sheets of corrugated plastic assembled in such a way to resemble precisely creased fabric ribbons. Jiangmei Wu's studio Folded Light Art combines computational technology and parametric calculations with traditional paper folding arts such as Origami. See more on Jiangmei Wu's website.
