ABRE ETTEH Hallel
2018

Hallel is a Sukkah created for Sukkah X as part of Detroit Month of Design in 2018. A Sukkah is a temporary structure that gives thanks for the fall harvest and commemorates the exodus from Egypt. It is the centerpiece of the eight day Jewish holiday of Sukkot. 300 milled cedar tiles hung from the ceiling inside sway in the breeze that permeates the open structure, which was inspired by the shaded canopy of a tree -- a space that is open yet sheltered.
